Myth of Yin House Feng Shui

Mysticism has always been a core practice in Chinese Metaphysics. It is an unnecessary concern as Chinese Metaphysic is not religious. Rituals have never been part of Feng Shui. The art of Yin House Feng Shui [Feng Shui Art for the Dead] existed way before Yang House Feng Shui [Feng Shui Art for the Living]. It is about tapping the relevant Qi of the nature for specific purposes. Its operatives are the same as Yang House Feng Shui. The original concept of Yin Feng Shui is to prevent termites from invading the coffin; snakes nesting; water logging the coffin; thefts and soil movement amongst others. It is a very logical art.

What is Yin House Feng Shui?

When our forefather the Great Grandmaster Yang Xun Song also known respectfully as Yang Gong performed a Yin House Feng Shui [Burial of the Dead], he did it so that the immediate family can benefit. His well known story of ‘Burial at Yin Hour, Prosper at Mao Hour’ 寅葬卯发 is not about boosting his ability but to verify and confirm the art is potent and effective. It also proved that the art prospered the current living generations and not about many generations later.

Date Selection for the coming Chinese Lunar New Year 2010

Year 2010 marks the year of the Tiger Zodiac. The Tiger Zodiac is but a planetary position. The planet Jupiter is the reference point. Those in the unfavourable positions are the Monkey and the Snake Zodiacs. It simply means those born under the Monkey and Snake zodiacs will have an uneventful year. There will be petty people; relationships may be trying; there will be concern over job stability; more stresses and more responsibilities.

What is important is how fast you react to manage them.

Understanding Feng Shui Application 3 [Part 3/8]

In this instalment, we shall delve into the understanding of Landforms. Landform has been grossly misunderstood. The left-hand side of any said property is called the Green Dragon [青龙] which is supposedly to be stronger than the right hand side and therefore higher and mightier. The Green Dragon side is also known to be the Yang side because it represents the male dominance. However Yang nature is taught to be low and open space. Doesn’t it contradict?

Understanding Feng Shui Application 2 [Part 2/8]

There are only two Feng Shui schools of thought. One is San He 三合and the other is San Yuan 三元. Both schools incorporate landforms [direction and location], timings [date selection and events occurrences] and divination [prediction and anticipation]. There is no compass school in Feng Shui. All other formulae are but subsets of these two schools.

The essences of San Yuan Feng Shui make use of the 3 cycles of 9 Periods 三元九运 which represent the Earth Qi 地气along with the 2 cycles of 8 Periods 二元八运which represent the Heaven Qi 天炁. These cycles are calculated base on the revolution of the Earth round the Sun. The art is to harness the interlocking energy of the Earth Qi and Heaven Qi. The Periods are divided into two halves known as the Direct 正神 and Indirect Spirits零神. San Yuan Feng Shui comprises of landform studies using Ai-Xing Method 挨星法; timing using Xuan Kong Da Gua Method 玄空大卦and Divination using Xuan Kong Gua Method 玄空卦法. All these methods must take into consideration the 24-mountain 二十四山 concept of Heaven-Earth-Man Yuan 天地人元。

Understanding Feng Shui Application 1 [Part 1/8]

Two of the most common practices in Feng Shui are BaZhai [八宅] and Flying Star [飞星] techniques. Both techniques are not wrong but unfortunately, both techniques are used wrongly. This is the main reason why practitioners and amateurs alike do not see results in their applications. For those who claim lottery luck must ascertain that the same application should reveal the same results on a regular basis, may it be weekly, monthly or yearly. I believe 90% of the time, it does not work that way.

Colours of the Wind

Yes, there are colours in Feng Shui. Unfortunately it is not about red, blue, green or yellow. It is not the painting of the house; not the colour coordination of your clothing and beddings; neither is it the make-up colour of your face. We leave most of the colour theme to your interior designers. Red as a prosperous colour is only a cultural myth. Naturally a well designed house in term of colour and theme will affect us positively too.

The Pharaohs Practised Feng Shui!

From the pin-hole camera designed Egyptian temples to the prism shaped Pyramids, the Egyptians practiced Feng Shui the very same way the Chinese did it. It was amazing. Both the ancient civilizations understood the art of harnessing Qi, or energy of astrological proportions. In every aspect they believed in the same principle of balancing Yin-Yang, even in the tomb to preserve ‘longevity’ of the dead, which the Chinese called Yin Feng Shui. The Pyramid is a very prominent Yin structure. It applied the art of vertical Qi which spiraled the same way a hurricane would.

Keep company with those who may make you better

My last half year was spent in setting up a new company. There is so much to do. Selecting promising and dedicated practitioners and training them to be full pledge consultants consume much of my time. A lot more time is dedicated to preparing the manual. Hands-on practical works with the practitioners literally take up most of the day.

The new company is known as ‘First Principles Inc’ and officially registered with Ms Zoe Foo and Mr Francis Lim in March 09. This is to cater to our corporate clienteles. Our corporate performances are detailed in our website www.firstprinciplesinc.com and please feel free to send us your feedback.

The last two months saw us travelling to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for some corporate audits. It was indeed an eye opener to see how differently a Flat Land Dragon moves and how it creates spiral Qi. This is a desired art. It is indeed sad that the art has been diluted and distorted through the ages because of commercialism and greed. We have to safeguard it otherwise Feng Shui will become nothing more than the 12 zodiac animals. Sigh.

To understand the theory is one thing; but to understand the application is a different ball game altogether.

Selections

'Proper selection is your first line of defence’-

This is quoted from www.firstprinciplesinc.com a new company I have set up with Zoe and Francis. We are trained to observe the landform to analyse how the Qi flows. It is with this understanding that we can tap on the most auspicious Qi to embark on a specific performance in Feng Shui. ‘Good health and good wealth’ are far too general to create any effective result in Feng Shui audit.

Selecting a piece of land, a shop lot, a retail unit or a residential unit require specific Feng Shui skills. Each selection is based on different criteria. Each criterion caters to a specific result. Each result is tailored to the performance required. This is a specialised art.

All Feng Shui practices should yield tangible results within 3 months

What our Students say.....

"By the way, I've have tried reading one of my colleague's Bazi in a very basic fundamental way as taught by Vin, guess what... it works! My colleague was amazed by the correctness of the reading. :)"

Jacky Wong, Kuala Lumpur

"I personally find the course very productive. The practical interpretation of the BAZI theory convinced me of its scientific background, not just another mythical practice. The wealth of experience and knowledge, fluently demonstrated over the past 2 days, is indeed impressive."

Kenneth Koh, Singapore

"Both Vin's Bazi and Feng Shui classes have convinced me and provided me a comprehensive path to further my studies and research into the art of Chinese Metaphysics. The unresolved puzzle and lot of unanswered formulas in my mind about Feng shui is now crystal clear. Thanks to the practical, logical and convincing teaching method by Master Vin toward the subject. Like what Master Vin quoted :- " The most fundamental is the most profound". This is what all students experienced in class."

Lee Chee Chiang, Kuala Lumpur

Zhong He Yin-Yang Calendar

The Zhong He Yin-Yang calendar is available today. It is from GrandMaster Chen Zhen Sheng of Xiong Sheng Tang. He is from the First Family of the 13 Families. There are only limited prints, rarely found in bookstores. Try to get a copy if you can. The calendar comprises San He Date Selection, San Yuan Date Selection, Qi Men, Liu Ren, Tou Shou, and many more. This is the ultimate book on date selection using the Chinese Almanac (Tong Shu).

San Sha and Tai Sui

These are two of the most mentioned afflictions of a new year. What exactly are they? How misunderstood are they? The problem is that people are unaware that we are talking about stars in Feng Shui terms.

Let us talk about Tai Sui first. There are two versions to it. One is about spiritualism and the other, Daoism. It is taught that those who are born in certain zodiac years that clashes with the Tai Sui need to make offerings through prayers to appease the Gods. Prayer offerings to deities are a spiritual practice that has nothing to do with Feng Shui. The other version is about the location of the planets. This is about the planetary influences on our house. Most people mixed the two versions and gets confused with the two terms.

Storing & Coagulating Qi

Storing wind talks about the embraces of the Green Dragon and White Tiger; the Black Turtle and the Red Phoenix. This is a typical arm chair formation meant to coagulate Qi. This is not the most important art as expounded in most Feng Shui tours. Otherwise Flat Land Dragons or non-mountainous areas are disadvantaged. This shows the lack of an in depth understanding of the Art of Chinese Metaphysics.

Annotate of Zi Ping Ba Zi

I extract this chapter from the classical text of Zi-Ping Zhen Quan that is an authority book on the Ten Gods/ Useful God of the Bazi system. I have made a literal translation and attempt a brief interpretation for those who do not have access to the classics.

子平真詮,

Zi-Ping Zhen Quan: The Genuine Annotate of Zi-Ping

[v] Xu Zi-Ping is often referred to a Master and a pioneer of Ten Gods in Bazi system. Many people do not know that there is another story to it. It is common to have a Chinese village with closely knitted communities sharing a common family name. Xu village is one of them. It was believed that the scholars and heads from this village came up with this system of decoding Bazi. The objective is to pass down a legacy that will benefit future Xu generations. Zi-Ping may be derived from the term 子孙平安 [Zi Sun Ping An] – meaning the soundness of descendents.

Land Formation

Land Formations is one of the most talked about topics in Feng Shui circle among the practitioners while the Flying Star and BaZhai methods confuse most new practitioners. Land formations are known as the Big External criteria for assessing the Feng Shui of a property. Unknown to many, San He and San Yuan each has their own set of land formations. They do not share the same shape or element as an individual mountain.

Reading Illnesses

One of the best used techniques of Bazi Analysis is to decipher illnesses. This forms part of the analyses in Traditional Chinese Medicinal practice. This helps us zoom in on the source of specific problems. It is a fast and effective manner to diagnose an illness. Unfortunately, Bazi practitioners are not given the access to the details of patient’s medical history as most patient and doctor information are private and confidential. I strongly believe the information would help us format a certain consistency in the analyses.

Right Formulae, Wrong Applications

The purpose of Feng Shui is to bring prosperity and auspiciousness to the home dwellers. There may be many formulae and school of thoughts, but they all share the same purpose of harnessing positive Qi for the well being of the residents. The success of the endeavours depends on the ‘season of Heaven, the advantage of Earth and the harmony of Man’ operating on the same plane.

Caesarean Birth

Caesarean Birth is becoming very common nowadays because many are obsessed with choosing a good auspicious date to deliver the child. They believe an auspicious day may bring good status and wealth for the newborn. Most want their child to become ‘somebody’ someday. However, having good stars on that day alone is not good enough. It involves looking into the destinies of the parents as well. That is a very huge responsibility on our shoulder. Putting it simply, the destiny of the child must match that of the parents. Why?

Consistency in BaZi

In Bazi studies, it is commonly taught that the same polarity of the stems represent the same gender while the different polarity represents the opposite gender. Let us take an example. A Jia wood Female Day Master’s mother is Ren water while her daughter is Bing fire. Her husband is represented by Xin metal and her son is Ding fire.

The Art of Bazi Analysis

Bazi is easy to learn but difficult to master if you do not know the techniques. I would like to share the art of analysing the spouse star which is one of the most important analyses in relationship readings. A general overview reading of spousal relationship goes like this:

  • Presence of the Spouse star

The spouse star represents our life partner and soul mate. For a strong chart, a male chart looks at the Wealth star as his spouse star while a strong female chart looks at the Authority star as the husband star. The star also indicates the characteristics of the spouse. The presence of a positive Direct Wealth star reveals the spouse’s nature as being thrifty, hardworking, conservative, business minded and skill in wealth management; whereas an Indirect Wealth star reveals her socialising skills, meticulous appearances, flamboyance and business acumen.

The Flying Star Chart

The Original San Yuan School of thoughts refers to the Earth Yuan, Heaven Yuan and Man Yuan. These are the three sectors of each of the Eight Guas in the 24 mountain ring. We also read of ‘Yuan Kong’ which refers to the three Yuan and the Kong Wang commonly known as ‘Death and Emptiness Lines’. This School converts the information into the 64 hexagrams. They have San Yuan Land Formations, Date Selection and Divination, in the same manner as San He.
